Scott targets senior England call after 'whirlwind' 2025
"It's down to me, I've got to keep progressing as a footballer, keep enjoying football, improving day on day and hopefully I impress the England manager and get my chance. Obviously it's a long way to go; I know that and I've got to improve a lot of things to get there, but fingers crossed I do that. I'm working very hard every single day and every game I play for this club."
"It was almost another setback and it was turning out to be quite a terrible year for the first five months. Then I got that call-up to England which made it a lot better, and going that one step further and winning it almost makes the whole year now. It's been a tough year, lots of challenges, but ultimately very enjoyable and now I'm starting this season strong."
Alex Scott, 22, helped England win the European Under-21 Championship, starting five of six matches, and has become a regular for Bournemouth this season, scoring his first goal in the 2-1 win over Brighton. Scott aims to reach the England senior team and acknowledges the high level and competition for places, saying he must keep improving and enjoying football while working hard every day. He missed four months last season after knee surgery, then broke his jaw, but regained fitness, secured a national call-up, and now feels the successful year and recovery have set him up for a strong start to the new season.
