The people of Port Charles and the fans of "General Hospital" are together mourning the passing of Dr. Monica Quartermaine."
""I loved her so much. It's just hard, man. It's tough," said Burton. "She was a staple of our show. She was a powerhouse, and we should honor her this way, for sure. She's amazing." When she was around, the cast says Charleson brought the fun with her. "She just kept everyone laughing, and she mostly made fun of herself, you know?" said Genie Francis, who plays Laura Collins. "But, I mean, that was the best part of her, really.""
Dr. Monica Quartermaine's long-running presence on General Hospital concluded following the real-life death of actress Leslie Charleson. Thursday's episode served as the first of a two-part onscreen farewell for the character. Cast members expressed grief and reflected on Charleson's humor, laugh, and impact on set and storyline. Jane Elliot described the dual pain of losing both actor and character, while Steve Burton and others spoke of personal loss and admiration. Friends and colleagues gathered earlier this year for a celebration of Charleson's life, with Wally Kurth serving as emcee. The tribute concludes in Friday's episode on ABC.
