John Wayne Airport in Orange County ranked No. 1 in customer satisfaction for the second consecutive year, scoring 730 out of 1,000. Ontario International Airport also ranked at or near the top within its category. Most other California airports placed near the middle of their J.D. Power groups, with Sacramento, San Jose, San Diego and Oakland scoring midpack among large or mega airports. Spirit Airlines began offering two free checked bags for certain customers and plans to furlough hundreds of flight attendants. Delta added YouTube to in-flight entertainment, and Southwest installed extra-legroom seats on roughly half its fleet, including Hawaii service. JSX plans turboprop service in California in November, Southwest will add a Fresno route, Avelo and Spirit adjusted California schedules, Alaska ended an LAX–Mexico route, Cathay Pacific plans another West Coast gateway next year, international route updates involve HiSky, Delta, Air China and American, San Diego opened the first phase of its new Terminal 1, and Alaska Airlines will expand its premium lounge network.
