
"Premium travelers have a growing number of airport lounges to choose from, and access to those facilities has "become a major driver of airport and airline selection," according to a new J.D. Power survey of 1,430 passengers who have used a lounge in the past year. Three-fourths of the respondents cited the availability of quality food and beverages in the lounges as the main attraction,"
"while 62% said they appreciate the facilities as a place to rest and relax and 37% want to escape from crowds in the terminals and at the gates. "One noteworthy trend airports will want to watch closely is the fact that 38% of lounge customers say they visited the airport lounge due to the high cost of food and beverage in the terminal," J.D. Power said."
A survey of 1,430 lounge users shows availability of quality food and beverages is the main attraction for three-fourths of respondents. Sixty-two percent value lounges as places to rest and relax, and 37% use lounges to escape terminal and gate crowds. Thirty-eight percent say high terminal food and beverage prices motivated lounge visits. JetBlue will open its first premium lounge next week. Two cabinet secretaries performed pull-ups at Washington Reagan National Airport to launch a campaign encouraging airports to add new amenities and healthier food. A consumer poll finds travelers want the TSA to ease some screening restrictions and are comfortable with facial identity verification. Multiple airlines announced new and returning routes and fleet deployments, including an A321XLR flying between LAX and JFK.
