Ian Hislop calls arrest of man holding Private Eye cartoon at Gaza protest mind-boggling'
Briefly

A retired teacher was arrested in Leeds for holding a Private Eye cartoon during a protest against the proscription of Palestine Action. Jon Farley described the arrest as surreal and upsetting, arguing he posed no threat. He was detained under the Terrorism Act 2000, despite his attempts to explain the humorous context behind the cartoon. After six hours of questioning, he was released without further action but faced bail conditions not to attend future Palestine Action rallies.
The police picked me up, grabbed me, and took me to the side, and I ended up sitting on the pavement. I was arrested under section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
I thought, this is all a bit surreal. I clearly wasn't any kind of physical threat... there was no need for them to act in the way they did.
