At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story."
"A man in his seventies died shortly after completing a half-marathon in Stoke-on-Trent. The runner had just finished the Potters Arf in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, when he fell ill in Hanley at around 1.30pm on Sunday. Despite immediate treatment from paramedics and the attendance of the Midlands Air Ambulance, he was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Staffordshire Police confirmed his death is not being treated as suspicious."
The Independent solicits donations to fund on-the-ground, paywall-free journalism covering reproductive rights, climate change, Big Tech and other major issues. Examples include an investigation into Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC and the documentary 'The A Word', which highlights American women fighting for reproductive rights. The outlet emphasizes the need for reporters on the ground and says donations allow journalists to speak to both sides while remaining accessible without paywalls. Separately, a man in his seventies fell ill after finishing the Potters Arf half-marathon in Stoke-on-Trent and was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Paramedics and the Midlands Air Ambulance attended, Staffordshire Police do not treat the death as suspicious, and event organisers offered condolences while requesting privacy for the bereaved.
