Lim, who featured in his first world championship in 1982 and in 1990 became the first player to hit a nine-darter at a world championship,"
"After the match the Scot suggested his young opponent had failed to unsettle him at the interval. At the break he popped his head in and said: When was the last time you played like that?' said Anderson. I said: I play that way all the time, son.' Simple as that. I thought: Cheeky little ' You talk about mind games. I've probably forgot more about darts than what he ever knows."
Paul Lim, aged 71, defeated world No 49 Jeffrey de Graaf in the first round at Alexandra Palace, becoming the oldest winner of a world championship match. Lim, who debuted in world championships in 1982 and hit the first world championship nine-darter in 1990, took an early lead, was pegged back to 1-1, then capitalised on de Graaf's mistakes to lead 2-1 and finished the match with double top in the fourth set. The victory occurred before a raucous crowd. Gary Anderson rallied from behind to beat Adam Hunt 3-2 and dismissed attempts at mind games. Other first-round winners included Andrew Gilding, Luke Woodhouse and David Davies.
