Restaurateur 'warned woman about drink spiking'
"I recall him forewarning me and my friend about drinks being spiked"
"I don't think I will be drinking today."
"I think you should drink, but be aware of people around you. My biggest concern last night was someone spiking your drink."
"I always found it quite strange, he would put a little straw in to try it. "He was affirming it was of high quality, he would test it with a straw and take a drink of it. I became acclimati"
Vikas Nath, 63, a restaurateur with restaurants in the UK and Spain, is accused of putting gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) into a woman's spicy margarita at Annabel's rooftop garden bar on 15 January 2024. Nath admits spiking the drink but says his intent was to 'relax' the woman rather than to have sex with her. The alleged victim said she felt betrayed and had met Nath roughly six times previously, usually for lunch at venues including Beaverbrook Town House and Benares. Nath warned her days earlier about spiking, tested drinks with a small straw during meetings, and exchanged concerned messages after a night out.
