South London teacher who had sex with former pupil barred from profession
"At a Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) misconduct panel, the pupil claimed he was quite flirty with Ms Akhtar while at the Beckton school, and the pair would talk about sex quite a lot despite their large age gap. He also claimed that once during one of their classroom conversations, he pinched one of her breasts and she didn't say anything, she just smiled and laughed."
"The panel found it proven that Ms Akhtar had sent topless pictures of herself to the pupil and had sex with him while she was employed at a third school, in East Dulwich, in 2017. It wasn't until 2020 that the illicit relationship came to the attention of the authorities. In the summer of that year, the pupil made allegations that Ms Akhtar had groomed him, in an apparent attempt to blackmail her."
A teacher was found to have repeatedly had sex with a former pupil and was banned from teaching. The pupil said they were flirty at school, discussed sex despite a large age gap, and claimed he once pinched one of her breasts while she smiled. The misconduct panel found insufficient evidence of sexual activity while he was a student but concluded they had a sexual relationship in 2017 and 2020 after he left school. The panel found Akhtar sent topless pictures and had sex with him in 2017. In 2020 the pupil made grooming allegations and attempted to blackmail her, later admitting he had asked for money. Akhtar reported threats and blackmail to police and said she feared for her safety.
