"Dan Holley, Met Office deputy chief meteorologist, said: Whilst there is some uncertainty as to the exact track and intensity of the area of low pressure as it passes close to western Scotland later on Tuesday, many parts of the UK are likely to see spells of rain which, given saturated ground, could lead to flooding and delays to road and rail travel."
Storm Bram brought strong gusts and heavy rainfall across parts of the UK, triggering 39 flood warnings and 171 flood alerts. Significant flooding affected areas including York, Bristol Avon (Chippenham to Melksham), Plymouth Sound, the River Derwent at Stamford Bridge, and West Bay East Beach. The Met Office warned that uncertainty over the low-pressure track could still produce spells of rain that, on saturated ground, risk further flooding and transport delays. Heathrow saw cancellations to flights to Ireland and Scotland and some delays, while South Western Railway reported severe weather delays and National Rail closed the Swindon–Bristol Parkway section.
