Woman (70s) and man (30s) die after house fire in Co Galway

A tragic house fire occurred at Gleann Mhic Mhuireann in Casla, Co Galway, early on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, resulting in the deaths of two residents. Emergency services were alerted around 6am and discovered the victims inside the home after controlling the blaze. The deceased included a woman in her 70s and a man in his 30s, both the sole occupants at the time. Investigations are ongoing, with the Gardaí conducting a technical examination and awaiting post-mortem results to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire at a property near Casla, Co Galway, shortly after 6am. It is understood the deceased were the only occupants of the house at the time the blaze broke out.
At approximately 6:20am, Gardaí and Fire Services were alerted to a house fire at Gleann Mhic Mhuireann. The fire was brought under control by Fire Services and the bodies of a woman aged in her 70s and a man in his 30s were recovered from inside the house.
A technical examination of the bungalow will be carried out to determine the cause of the tragedy. Both bodies have been transported to the Mortuary at University Hospital Galway for post-mortem examinations.
The results of the post mortems, along with the findings of the technical examination, will determine the course of the Garda investigation. The local Coroner has been informed.
