"An undercover documentary is set to cause further issues for the Metropolitan Police, with officers and staff reportedly showing support for far-right activist Tommy Robinson and using excessive force against suspects. Eleven people based at Charing Cross police station are being investigated for potential gross misconduct, including a constable who is also under criminal investigation. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched a probe into allegations including excessive use of force, making discriminatory and misogynistic comments, and failing to report or challenge inappropriate behaviour."
"The allegations came to light after an undercover BBC reporter for Panorama worked as a member of civilian staff and recorded the material. Officers and staff were reportedly showing support for far-right activist Tommy Robinson (PA Wire) Due to be aired on Wednesday evening, it allegedly contains material in which an officer makes supportive comments about Robinson, who has been described by monitoring group Hope Not Hate as Britain's best-known far-right extremist. It was also alleged that officers were caught using anti-Muslim and anti-female comments."
Eleven people based at Charing Cross police station are under investigation for potential gross misconduct, including nine serving officers, a former officer, and a serving designated detention officer. The Independent Office for Police Conduct launched a probe into alleged excessive use of force, discriminatory and misogynistic comments, and failures to report or challenge inappropriate behaviour. The allegations arose after material was recorded by a civilian staff member working at the station that reportedly showed officers supporting far-right activist Tommy Robinson and making anti-Muslim and anti-female comments. One constable is also subject to a criminal investigation on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. The incidents are said to have occurred between August 2024 and January 2025, and nine serving officers have been suspended.
