New Cork motorway: Taoiseach Micheal Martin confident BAM can deliver project on time and under budget
Briefly

BAM, the Dutch construction firm, has secured a new €206 million contract for the M28 motorway project, slated for completion in Summer 2028. This contract comes amidst ongoing high court proceedings against the Irish state over additional costs related to delays in the National Children's Hospital project, which is now expected to cost €2.24 billion and be completed by September 30. BAM has also sought a five-year extension on the Cork Events Centre. The Taoiseach expressed confidence in BAM's ability to deliver the M28 project on time within EU regulations.
Alasdair Henderson, Executive Director of BAM Ireland, stated that the M28 project reflects their ongoing commitment to sustainable infrastructure that benefits communities and commerce.
The Taoiseach expressed confidence that BAM can complete the M28 on time and under budget, but emphasized that government contract decisions must follow EU procurement laws, regardless of public opinion.
