Hundreds of pubs, restaurants and hotels are signing up to a campaign to bar Labour MPs from their premises in protest at tax rates. The campaign began a week ago when Andy Lennox, landlord of the Old Thatch in Dorset, introduced a ban. More than 250 establishments have joined nationwide. The government says the chancellor delivered a 4.3bn support package for pubs, restaurants and cafes and argues that without intervention bills would have risen 45% next year, now reduced to 4%. The government cites draft beer duty cuts, eased pavement-drinking licences and a corporation tax cap.
