"The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information in connection with a boy's disappearance 47 years ago. The reward will be issued to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the disappearance of then-4-year-old Andrew "Andy" Amato. Andy went missing on Sept. 30, 1978. He was last seen in the wooded area near the Ash Street Trailer Park in Webster, police say."
"Andy, his then-7-year-old sister, and his 6-year-old cousin were walking on a trail along I-395, then known as Route 52. The three children came across a brook when Andy stumbled and dropped his Weeble toy. When he refused to leave without it, his sister and cousin went back to their home near Richard Avenue to get help, police say. When his family returned to the brook, Andy was nowhere to be found."
Andrew "Andy" Amato, age 4, disappeared on Sept. 30, 1978, after being last seen near the Ash Street Trailer Park in Webster. Andy was walking with his then-7-year-old sister and 6-year-old cousin when he dropped a Weeble toy at a brook and his relatives left to get help; he was gone when they returned. Local, state, and federal agencies conducted extensive searches using canine, dive, helicopter, and National Guard teams. Nearly 100 interviews and dozens of leads have been pursued. The FBI is offering up to $25,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction.
