A 34-year-old motorcyclist, Royan Thomas, was killed after his 2008 Yamaha struck the front passenger door of a 2007 Honda Odyssey on Francis Lewis Boulevard at 7:58 p.m. The Odyssey was driven by a 50-year-old off-duty police officer who was attempting a left turn onto Linden Boulevard. The collision ejected Thomas, who sustained severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 24-year-old female passenger was also ejected and taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical but stable condition. The off-duty officer was hospitalized in stable condition. No arrests have been made and the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is investigating while the NY Attorney General's Office of Special Investigation has opened a statutory review under Executive Law Section 70-b.
