Multiple victims reported in shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island
"We're still getting information about what's going on, but we're just telling people to lock their doors and to stay vigilant,"
"As a Brown alum, someone who loves the Brown community and represents this area, I'm heartbroken. My heart goes out to all the family members and the folks who've been impacted."
"God bless the victims and the families of the victims!"
Multiple people were shot near Brown University during the second day of final exams, prompting an active shooter alert and shelter-in-place orders. Police did not immediately release the number of victims, their conditions, or the circumstances of the shooting. University alerts initially reported a suspect in custody, then retracted that statement as police continued to search. The reported shooting occurred near the Barus & Holley building, which houses the School of Engineering and physics department and more than 100 laboratories. Engineering design exams were underway at the time. Officials warned the area remained an active scene and cautioned that information was preliminary. President Donald Trump said he had been briefed and offered condolences.
