"The Pentagon has hundreds of bases across the US, each equipped with varying levels of counter-drone capabilities. These new "flyaway kits" are meant as a rapid response option, though NORTHCOM acknowledged that approvals to use them will need to be routed up the chain of command, a process that could take 24 hours. Deploying a kit, including trained operators, is also expected to take at least a day, meaning the kits can't be used to quickly help fight off surprise attacks."
