After Weeks of Threats, Trump Sends Federalized Troops To Downtown Chicago

He also said agents have the intelligence and experience to know when something indicates there's illegal aliens in a particular place or location."
Federal agents and immigration officers were deployed to downtown Chicago and patrolled Michigan Avenue and other central locations. Dozens of immigration agents took individuals into custody while conducting downtown patrols. A Border Patrol chief said agents arrested people based on many different factors, including appearance, and asserted agents have intelligence and experience to identify where illegal aliens may be present. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said agents were intimidating residents by flaunting automatic weapons and called the deployment a brazen provocation that did not improve safety. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker said the armed presence instilled fear, hurt businesses, and did not make the city safer. President Trump posted footage and vowed Border Patrol would take no nonsense.
