Rep. Ro Khanna condemns House Speaker Mike Johnson for ending a congressional session to prevent a vote on disclosing records related to Jeffrey Epstein. Khanna asserts that the Speaker is avoiding a vote due to anticipated defeat. The proposed resolution aims to release federal documents revealing those involved in Epstein's trafficking operations while maintaining victim privacy. Support for this resolution is growing among both Democrats and some Republicans, with Khanna noting that he has enough backing to potentially force a vote in the House.
He has stopped Congress and all of the business of this week because he doesn't want to have a vote. He knows he would lose the vote.
The resolution clearly says that victims' identities should be protected, that no salacious pornography should be released, addressing Johnson's privacy concerns.
The reality is, I have all 212 Democrats who will sign the discharge petition. Several high-profile Republicans who align themselves with President Trump have also joined the push to release the Epstein files.
While Congress has a moral responsibility to expose the evil of Epstein, we also have an equal moral responsibility to protect the innocent, which is a fine needle to thread.
