The Indiana Senate voted down a mid-decade redistricting effort, with 40 of 50 senators Republican, marking the first time Trump's redistricting campaign was rejected by members of his own party. Republicans in Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina pursued similar mid-decade redraws while California Democrats mounted their own response. Governor Mike Braun supported the redistricting push and Trump threatened support for primary challengers against dissenting senators. Red states have so far gained a small seat advantage over blue states.
