Nicholas Kaufman, a British-Israeli defence lawyer, warned ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan that failure to withdraw arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Gallant could lead to destruction of both Khan and the court. Kaufman suggested Khan reclassify the warrants as confidential to allow Israel to challenge the allegations privately. He cautioned that pursuing more arrest warrants for far-right Ministers could result in severe repercussions. The ICC issued warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, and Hamas leader Deif on charges stemming from recent clashes, making them internationally wanted suspects.
Karim Khan has been warned that if arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant are not withdrawn, he and the ICC would be destroyed.
Nicholas Kaufman told Khan to apply to the court to reclassify the warrants and underlying information as confidential, which would allow Israel to access the details of the allegations.
Kaufman warned Khan that if it emerged Khan was applying for more arrest warrants for far-right Ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, then all options would be off the table.
Kaufman told Khan: They will destroy you, and they will destroy the court.
