"So, I'm getting a ton of hateful stuff, and I'm trying to remember everything. I'm trying to kind of remember everything right now. Comedian Theo Von's short comedic clip — "Heard you got deported, dude. Bye." — was included in a Department of Homeland Security social media video showcasing deportation efforts. Von recorded the line as a joke for a fan and objected when DHS used it, demanding removal; DHS deleted the clip. The video sparked a wave of online harassment and hateful messages aimed at Von, causing him paranoia and leading him to close his curtains. Von noted his father is originally from Nicaragua and values his father's immigration papers. The government noticed the harassment and offered security assistance.
