"After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn't like,"
"These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there's going to be additional work for the F.C.C. ahead,"
""indefinitely" suspend comedian Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk show"
ABC indefinitely suspended Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show after his comments about slain commentator Charlie Kirk. Barack Obama called the suspension government coercion and accused the Trump administration of undermining First Amendment protections. Federal Communications Commission chairman Brendan Carr warned the agency would pursue remedies if broadcasters did not act, saying companies could change conduct or face additional FCC scrutiny. Sinclair-owned local ABC stations will air a remembrance for Kirk in Kimmel's former time slot and have demanded an apology and a donation to Turning Point USA. The White House and ABC did not immediately comment.
