"I am so grateful for their courage and advocacy driven by the hope that more families do not have to experience the pain they do." Since 2022, Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 10 American citizens in the West Bank and Gaza, according to Lee's office. At least ten American citizens have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and Gaza since 2022. No prosecutions have been reported in connection with any of those deaths. U.S. lawmakers and family members of victims held a September 16 press conference demanding accountability and condemning impunity. Family members included loved ones of Ayşenur Ezgi Eyg i, a 26-year-old Washington state activist shot in the head while protesting settlements. Representatives Summer Lee and Rashia Tlaib criticized the lack of U.S. investigations when alleged perpetrators wear Israeli uniforms and urged independent inquiries.
