SHOCK POLL: Majority of Americans Believe Democracy 'Isn't Working'
"Quinnipiac University Poll released on Tuesday found 53% of citizens believe American democracy is not working right now, compared to 41% of Americans who believe the system is going fine. Those on the left, unsurprisingly, were much more likely to say the figurative house is burning down, with 74% of polled Democrats saying the system of democracy in the United States is not working; only 22% of Republicans said it is not working, and 74% of GOP voters said there is no problem at all."

The Quinnipiac University Poll found 53% of Americans say American democracy is not working while 41% say it is. Democrats were far more negative (74% say it is not working) versus 22% of Republicans; 74% of GOP voters said there is no problem. The poll reported 79% view the U.S. as in a political crisis and 71% see political violence as a very serious problem, up from 54% in June. Fifty-three percent are pessimistic about free speech. Thirty-nine percent approve of President Trump’s handling of the economy, including 85% of Republicans and 5% of Democrats. The survey of 1,276 registered voters ran Sept. 18–21, and preserving democracy was the top priority for 32% of respondents.
