"Jasmine Ray, a Stapleton resident who has previously written in to the Staten Island Advance/SILive.com, will soon release "Political Humanity," a self-published book detailing her alleged "hidden relationship" with Adams. "From the shadows of City Hall to the silence of closed-door meetings, Jasmine Ray reveals her untold role in the life of New York City's mayor, Eric Adams," according to Ray's website. "Their hidden relationship-marked by intimacy, sacrifice, and betrayal-mirrors the larger struggles of politics itself: the tension between personal humanity and public expectation.""
"Ray, founder of the Staten Island-based Wallball World LLC and The United States Wallball Association Inc., was appointed as the city's director of sports, wellness and recreation in late 2022 with a base salary of $161,400, according to the Daily News. John Kaehny, a government watchdog who runs the Reinvent Albany group, called the hiring of Ray "nepotistic" and said Adams should have consulted with New York City's Conflict of Interest Board before making the appointment."
Jasmine Ray dated Mayor Eric Adams more than a decade ago and now holds the city role of director of sports, wellness and recreation with a base salary of $161,400. Ray will self-publish a book titled "Political Humanity" that describes an alleged hidden relationship with Adams and frames personal intimacy against political expectations. The mayor's office confirmed the earlier dating and said there were no romantic engagements since Ray's appointment three years ago. A government watchdog called the hiring nepotistic and urged consultation with the Conflict of Interest Board. A mayoral spokesperson stated the Conflict of Interest Board consultation was not required.
