A Department of the Treasury banner accuses Democrats of shutting down the government "in the name of reckless spending and obstructionism." The White House site blames Democrats and shows a shutdown timer. The shutdown followed Congress failing to pass a funding bill amid disputes over extending Affordable Care Act subsidies. Some agencies, including State, Education, and the FCC, display only a notice that their sites will not be updated because of the shutdown.
