Sean Plankey, nominated by President Donald Trump to lead the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, is set to testify before the Senate Homeland Security Committee after earlier delays. His confirmation is currently challenged by Senator Ron Wyden, who plans to block it until a pending telecom security report is received. Plankey's prior experience includes roles in cybersecurity at the Department of Energy, the National Security Council, and U.S. Cyber Command. Advancement from the oversight committee is necessary for him to reach a full Senate vote.
Sean Plankey, President Donald Trump's choice to lead the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, is scheduled to testify next week before the Senate Homeland Security Committee after weeks of holdups.
Plankey was also scheduled to appear before the committee early last month, but he was pulled due to paperwork delays.
The nomination still faces a hurdle from Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., who stated his intent to block Plankey's nomination.
Plankey served as principal deputy assistant secretary for the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response at the Department of Energy.
