ICE agents in an unmarked car followed Jesus Saucedo-Portillo into a campus parking lot and attempted to detain him. Campus security and residence hall officials observed and attempted to intervene while students began recording. Additional agents arrived, pointed weapons at the crowd, and pushed witnesses back. A senior administrator requested to see a judicial warrant; agents said they did not have one and then arrested Saucedo-Portillo on private property. University leaders say a judicial warrant is required to enter private property. Department of Homeland Security officials contested the university account and said officers informed campus authorities that ICE had a warrant.
