Yasmin Williams accused Kennedy Center President Richard Grenell of aiding a group of Trump supporters who coordinated to intimidate and harass her during a September 18 concert. Members of the local Log Cabin Republicans chapter attended after receiving passes distributed by Grenell's office, and a newsletter singled Williams out as a "vocal opponent of President Trump and The Kennedy Center's decision to hold a vigil for Charlie Kirk." The group changed venue two days before the concert and 50 passes arrived minutes before curtain; staff said Grenell's team "even distributed passes and welcomed the men as they arrived." Concerned staff arranged an escort for Williams after the show; Williams opened her set by showing footage of Malcolm X and addressing the controversy.
