How GameShare and GameChat work with Nintendo Switch 2
Briefly

Nintendo Switch 2 enhances multiplayer gaming through two new features: GameShare and GameChat. GameShare allows players to share games locally between two Switch 2 systems, or host gameplay from a Switch 2 to an original Switch, but is limited to multiplayer scenarios. In contrast, GameChat enables online gameplay without ownership constraints but is exclusive to Switch 2 consoles. A unique trial period for GameChat runs until March 26, 2026, after which it will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, adding depth to the gaming experience on the new console.
GameShare is Nintendo's term for the process by which you share games locally, either between two Switch 2 systems or with a Switch 2 as the host console streaming to an original Switch.
GameChat functions in mostly the same way, in that it's designed for people to play multiplayer games together, even if one of you doesn't own the game.
