"An original but unused ending cutscene for Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro, released in 2001, was long thought to be lost to time, with only a single screenshot of it remaining online. But that all changed earlier this week when someone who downloaded the original ending over 20 years ago remembered they had it and uploaded it to the internet. First, a bit of history:"
"Why did they have a copy of this long-sought-after cutscene? Because they are a digital hoarder, apparently. 'Earlier today, I read an article that said this S pider-Man: Enter Electro video was lost media,' posted BobbyFan85. 'I knew I had it on one of my old hard drives, and sure enough, I found it! Says I downloaded it on Oct 16, 2001. Glad I never delete anything!'"
Spider-Man: Enter Electro released in 2001 as a sequel to Neversoft's PS1/N64 Spider-Man title. The game launch was delayed after the September 11 attacks because the original ending took place on the Twin Towers; subsequent changes produced the released October 18 version. Rumors of a cut ending featuring Thor circulated for years and a 2023 screenshot hinted the scene had existed. On September 22, an Instagram user who had downloaded the original ending in October 2001 uploaded the cutscene to the Internet Archive and YouTube, confirming the long-sought lost footage.
