Aliaksei Protas made his return to the Washington Capitals' lineup during the playoffs after missing most of the first-round series due to a skate-cut injury. Head coach Spencer Carbery placed Protas on the fourth line, where he contributed positively alongside Nic Dowd and Brandon Duhaime. In Game 5 against the Montreal Canadiens, the trio produced effective results, such as positive differentials in shot attempts and scoring chances. Carbery plans to use Protas flexibly across different scenarios to maximize his contributions as the Capitals face the Carolina Hurricanes.
He obviously adds a lot to that line as well in his skill set and what he does.
We're going to try to monitor where he's at physically. But he's a big player for us.
They were solid through that series, but a really, really productive game in Game 5 with Pro on that line.
Pro's going to move around our lineup... utilizing him more and more in different spots.
