Cross-border fighting between Thailand, Cambodia enters fourth day

"Cambodia urges that Thailand immediately stop all hostile activities and withdraw its forces from Cambodia's territorial integrity, and avoid acts of aggression that threaten peace and stability in the region, the Defence Ministry said. Renewed fighting between Thailand and Cambodia entered a fourth day with both sides accusing one another of violating international law while awaiting a promised phone call from the US President. Cambodia accused Thai forces of early-morning attacks involving tanks and artillery across Pursat, Banteay Meanchey and Oddar Meanchey provinces, and alleged firing on civilians in Prey Chan village. Cambodia reported shelling of Khnar Temple and artillery fire into the O'Smach area. The Interior Ministry reported damage to homes, schools, roads, Buddhist pagodas and ancient temples from intensified shelling and F-16 strikes up to 30km inside Cambodian territory. Cambodia urged an immediate halt to hostile activities and withdrawal of Thai forces to prevent further regional instability.
