Cuban Vice Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossio stated that the political system and leadership of Cuba are not negotiable with the United States. He firmly rejected claims that the US administration is seeking the removal of President Miguel Diaz-Canel. Reports suggested that while the US may want Diaz-Canel ousted, it does not aim to dismantle other parts of the Cuban government. Diaz-Canel, the first non-Castro president since 1976, is set to serve until 2028 under a constitutional reform that established five-year presidential terms.
