"The Europeans have won eight of the past 11 events, including a 16½-11½ win at Marco Simone Golf Club and Country Club outside Rome in 2023. The U.S. routed the Europeans 19-9 at Whistling Straits in Haven, Wisconsin, in 2021. Ryder Cup 45 begins Friday at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. The U.S. team seeks to extend a home advantage streak, with the host side winning each of the past five Ryder Cups. Europe captured eight of the last 11 events, including 16½-11½ at Marco Simone in 2023 and 14½-13½ at Medinah in 2012. The schedule features four foursomes and four four-ball matches Friday and Saturday, then 12 singles Sunday. Europe needs 14 points to retain; the U.S. needs 14½. The U.S. roster includes seven of the top 10 players and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
