"There are 12 to 14 Israeli army vessels lined up in front of us, and we should meet them in about an hour, around an hour. So, this is a peaceful and non-violent humanitarian mission to open up a corridor into Gaza to get aid and food and supplies to the residents of Gaza. That's about it, and we will probably lose contact shortly, so thanks to everybody for the support, but keep the eyes on Gaza."
A nearly 50-boat Global Sumud Flotilla carrying about 500 activists and a symbolic amount of humanitarian aid sailed toward Gaza to attempt to breach the Israeli naval blockade. Activists reported being in international waters north of Egypt when they entered an area described as high risk and observed multiple Israeli naval vessels approaching. Social media posts said cameras went offline and vessels were boarded by military personnel. Close to 20 Irish citizens, including public figures, were aboard and one posted video reporting 12–14 Israeli vessels approaching and calling for government intervention to ensure their safety.
