In a significant escalation of violence, over 300 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza within a few days as Israel's military operation intensifies. The UN human rights chief condemned the airstrikes, labeling them as a method of ethnic cleansing aimed at displacing Palestinians. The situation in Gaza is dire, with hospitals overwhelmed and fears of famine growing due to Israel's blockade on humanitarian aid. As Israel prepares for further military actions in Operation Gideon's Chariots, calls for a ceasefire have been echoed by international leaders, including the UN Secretary General.
The situation inside the hospital is catastrophic, said Marwan al-Sultan, the director of the Indonesian hospital in northern Gaza.
The bombing campaign was meant to displace Palestinians and that it was equivalent to ethnic cleansing, said the UN human rights chief, Volker Turk.
Turk added that the denial of humanitarian assistance underlines a push for a permanent demographic shift in Gaza that defies international law.
Israel's bombardments were the initial phases of Operation Gideon's Chariots, expanding the campaign in Gaza to achieve all war goals.
