"Speaking via video call with flotilla organisers late on Thursday, the Australian captain, who identified himself only as Cameron, explained that the boat initially had engine issues and was therefore lagging behind the main group. The vessel is now steaming towards Gaza, Cameron added. We have a bunch of very tough Turks onboard we've got a lady from Oman and myself, and we're just going to continue in the direction, he said."
Israeli naval forces dismantled a 44-boat humanitarian flotilla and detained about 500 activists from more than 40 countries. The Polish-flagged yacht Marinette, crewed by six and captained by an Australian identifying as Cameron, is the sole operational vessel still heading toward Gaza after initial engine troubles left it behind the main group. A live video feed and geo-tracker show Marinette steaming in international waters roughly 43 nautical miles from Gaza. Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned the yacht that attempts to enter an active combat zone and breach the blockade would be prevented.
