""The chairman of the Palestinian General Authority for Crossings and Borders, Mr Nazmi Muhanna, announced that the Israeli side has informed us of the closure of the Al-Karama crossing starting tomorrow, Wednesday ... until further notice, in both directions," the Palestinian borders authority said in a statement on Tuesday, in reference to the Allenby Crossing."
"The Jordanian Public Security Directorate also said the bridge was being shut "to passenger and cargo traffic by the other side until further notice.""
The Allenby Bridge Crossing will be closed indefinitely in both directions starting Wednesday. The crossing is the only international gateway for Palestinians in the West Bank that does not require entering Israel. The bridge had been temporarily closed after a truck driver delivering humanitarian aid from Jordan opened fire and killed two Israeli military personnel manning the crossing. The crossing briefly reopened and was closed again multiple times over recent days. Separately, Palestinian medics reported at least 18 people killed as Israeli forces pushed deeper into Gaza City, with tanks in suburbs and explosive-laden vehicles detonated.
