Pauline Cabessa, co-owner of Cielo Samui in Thailand, transitioned from her corporate job in Saint Tropez to manage a boutique hotel she discovered during vacations. After years as a frequent guest at the Eden Beach Bungalows, she pursued the opportunity to buy the hotel, driven by a desire for a challenging change in life. This move fulfilled her longing for authentic hospitality, as she felt her prior role lacked genuine connection. Overcoming their inexperience, Cabessa and her husband renovated the hotel to create a unique visitor experience, emphasizing authenticity and personal connection.
As we were on the plane, going back to work, we kept thinking, 'Oh, we need to find a way to make it,' said Cabessa.
I felt like it was time in life for a challenge... if you don't do things that are a little bit crazy, then afterward it might be a little bit too late.
I was really losing the authentic connection I share with guests in my previous job, which made me reevaluate my career path.
Pauline Cabessa runs Cielo Samui, a boutique hotel on Koh Samui's Bo Phut beach, embracing the essence of true hospitality.
