Hailing from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Duncan is one of the most anticipated arms in all of Canada. The 2026 graduate is finishing up high school and plays for numerous teams across Canada, including the Langley Blaze and the Junior National Team, and has a commitment to Vanderbilt for post-secondary ball. Duncan has shown extreme growth in his game, with valuable displays on the field and improvements in his pitch usage.
The draws of Lombard is that he is the son of a coach and former big leaguer, who has a mature, advanced game. He has in the past shown a good feel for hitting, but also has potentially plus power and plus or better speed. Defensively he is a prospect who looks like he will stick at shortstop and be a quality defender there.
The draft lottery is over and the order for the 2026 MLB Draft is pretty much set at this point, with the exception of picks moving around due to free agent signings. The Atlanta Braves are set to pick with the 9th pick, their own first round pick, and the 26th pick, which is the one they are receiving for Drake Baldwin's Rookie of the Year.
This is due to a fairly new rule change to the MLB Collective Bargaining Agreement, to incentivize teams to promote their talented young players in order to prevent them from keeping them in the minor leagues for six weeks to extend their service time. This rule, called the Prospect Promotion Incentive, is given to players who are Top 100 prospects that make the Opening Day roster.
