Croydon council will refund drivers fined under scrapped Low Traffic Neighbourhood schemes after a High Court ruling deemed them unlawful.
It has an impeccable inner-city skyline. Croydon has the facade of being a bigger city. It's got all these huge offices that looks like residences. And filmmakers get this authentic scenery without the restrictions of space and traffic management found in central London.
Croydon Council is owed more than 1.13 million in unpaid parking fines, with some drivers racking up hundreds of penalty charge notices (PCNs) without paying a penny. According to figures seen by the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), there are 6,701 outstanding PCNs across the borough, totalling 1,134,197 in unpaid fines. The list of the top 50 worst offenders shows that several vehicles have each been issued more than 300 PCNs, with individual debts running into tens of thousands of pounds.
A new Wetherspoon pub is set to open in south London just in time for the festive period. The site was previously used as a Beefeater before the eatery closed its doors in September after 37 years. Coombe Lodge is expected to be the first new Wetherspoons to open in Croydon this century, serving the chain's usual drinks while retaining its classic Wetherspoons character.

Dabners Pet Shop, located in Croydon, will close permanently on August 16, after over 60 years of serving the community. The closure is attributed to rising costs and increased shoplifting.
