Danny Welbeck's strike in Brighton's 2-1 FA Cup third round victory on Sunday was his eighth career goal in all competitions against United his joint best record against any opposition, prompting former teammate Phil Jones to say United fans would "take him back in a heartbeat".
He scores goals, he works hard, he's having a purple patch and he's put himself in a position where Thomas Tuchel will definitely have to look at him," Rooney said on the latest episode of his podcast The Wayne Rooney Show.
I'm feeling good. I've been getting the goals more than I have previously. Before I have had better performances but maybe not got the goals. I am feeling fit, strong and the only thing I can focus on is controlling what I can control and the rest will sort itself out. I am really enjoying my football, focusing on the next game with Brighton.
Age appears no barrier for Thomas Tuchel's England. An 18-month contract as a one-shot deal North America or bust little need to plan for the future. Any legacy is bound up in the success or failure of Mission 2026, hence the expected presence of good tourist Jordan Henderson, 36 less than a week after the World Cup kicks off. Though Harry Kane is immovable, undroppable, there may yet be a vacancy for an athletic, intelligent, hard-working forward, capable of linking play and leading the press,
It's a tough one because we were in control of the game. We didn't concede nothing. We had so many shots first-half, 70% possession, everything was fine. Because of our mistake, the game changed. I didn't watch it back. If they decide it's a red card, it's probably a red card. We were defending quite well until the 1-1. You can always do something better, I think we could have scored a second in the first-half with the amount of chances we had. I think we can do both better, both offesince and defensive.
