Richard Sherman received a deferred prosecution in his DUI case and must complete two years of treatment plus a five-year probation under Washington law.
The NTSB said in June that "the probable cause of this accident was the in-flight separation of the left MED [mid exit door] plug due to Boeing's failure to provide adequate training, guidance, and oversight necessary to ensure that manufacturing personnel could consistently and correctly comply with its parts removal process." The NTSB also said the FAA's compliance and enforcement systems "were inadequate to identify repetitive and systemic discrepancies and nonconformance issues" at Boeing.
Prosecutors have agreed to drop criminal charges against a prominent Miami defense attorney accused of orchestrating a bribery conspiracy involving two former U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration supervisors who leaked confidential information. Charges will be dismissed against David Macey in a year as long as he does not break any laws, according to a deferred prosecution agreement announced Thursday in Manhattan federal court.
