On the product side, Fannie Mae is introducing HomeStyle Refresh, which will replace HomeStyle Energy and expand financing options beginning March 31, 2026. The product allows borrowers to finance purchase or cash-out refinance transactions up to 15% of the as-completed appraised value for renovation costs, following standard loan-to-value requirements. Eligible uses include cosmetic and functional upgrades, disaster repairs, resiliency improvements and environmental remediation for issues such as lead, asbestos or mold.

With the addition of Peter as acting CEO and John Roscoe and Brandon Hamara as co-presidents, we now have a deep bench of three experienced leaders at the very top of Fannie Mae, Bill Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, said in a statement. This means a safer, sounder Fannie Mae, all while growing our great Fortune 25 company.

Following the move, Hamara resigned from Freddie Mac's board of directors, effective Monday, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing. Under the Trump administration, the boards of the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) have undergone several leadership changes. In his first week as FHFA director, Pulte made immediate waves by removing 14 board members across Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, adding new ones, and appointing himself chair of both boards. Hamara was among the new members added to Freddie Mac.

Fannie Mae expects servicers to notify borrowers about their temporary interest rate buydown ending and subsequent interest rate increases 90 days prior to the change.

The LIHTC program provides tax credits to developers who agree to reserve a portion of their rental units for lower-income households, making it the most effective tool for addressing affordable housing.
