The Radical Left are going to shut down the government and inflict massive pain on the American people unless they get their $1.5 trillion wish list of demands, the banner read. The Trump administration wants to keep the government open for the American people. The shutdown began at midnight on Oct. 1 after the Senate failed to advance a short-term funding measure that cleared the House of Representatives earlier.

Trump and his Republican allies, including Senator Tom Cotton, have accused Smith of violating the Hatch Act... Cotton accused Smith of being a partisan Democrat who weaponized the law against Trump.
