HSE chief Bernard Gloster will speak to Oireachtas Health Committee today Another case of an infant who suffered a loss of blood or oxygen to the brain in a Galway maternity unit is under investigation, along with a stillbirth, bringing the total number of reviews to 12. The two new cases in Portiuncula maternity unit in Galway will be revealed to the Oireachtas Health Committee today by HSE chief executive Bernard Gloster.

Breastcheck is HSE's national free breast screening service for those aged between 50 and 69. Last year, the service target was for 195,000 people to be screened, but it performed only 137,134 checks. Meanwhile, the target for 2023 was to screen 185,000 people, whereas Breastcheck performed 166,532 screenings. In response to these figures, the HSE told RTÉ that the screening service is affected by a global shortage of radiology staff.

Eamon McShane claimed a loss of €1,400 due to a cyber attack related to his work phone. He lost a court challenge over this claim.

The number of dentists employed by the HSE at the end of last year was just 249, illustrating the severe shortage of dental professionals available to provide care.
