Jakub Kiwior’s loan move to Porto has been made permanent, with a contract running until 2030 and a €70m release clause.
Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior, currently on loan at Porto, has spoken out about the difficult conversation he had to have with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta this summer. The Poland international admits it wasn't easy speaking to Arteta to ask for a loan move away, but he felt the time had come for that conversation. Kiwior impressed during his time at Arsenal, but found it difficult to command a regular starting place in the team due to there being so much competition at both centre-back and left-back.
The club didn't want to let me go and it took a long time for them to agree to the transfer. I was valued there; no one wanted to get rid of me. Arteta didn't want me to leave for Portugal either, so I never felt unwanted. The decision to leave was entirely mine. I wanted to play, but with Gabriel and Saliba ahead of me, the chances were small.
FC Porto are waiting for Arsenal to decide in the next 24/48h on Jakub Kiwior proposal worth 26m. Kiwior was never gonna travel tonight as it depends on Arsenal, still deciding internally. Green light might also depend on talks with Bayer for Piero Hincapie.
